Starting in 2018, BWRE began a process to build a portfolio along the southside of the Manzanares river. With Williamsburg, Brooklyn circa 1999 as an inspiration, we strove to anticipate and lead the consolidation of the Puerta del Angel neighbourhood as Madrid’s overflow area, “Bruclin” or “Madlyn” as known by local residents. As with Williamsburg in that era, BWRE has tied our investment together with efforts to create a vibrant social and cultural scene. We have acquired more than 35 buildings, all located within a 10 minute walk from the riverside, the Caramuel high street and Puerta del Angel metro stop, the Tirso de Molina urban market and the Casa del Campo Farmer’s market. In late 2020, BWRE will be launching our neighbourhood hotel and guesthouse, The Madlyn, which will also host events and conferences on our rooftop bar and private garden patio. The first Riverside fund will list on the MAB stock exchange in july 2020 as a REIT (SOCIMI). BWRE is working on the launch of the second Riverside fund which will continue to focus on locations on the southside of the river and near major metro lines.
